The most consistently affordable weekend trips from Los Angeles are short West Coast and desert routes: Las Vegas, the Bay Area, Phoenix and Sacramento among them. Competition and short distances keep base fares low, so a little timing flexibility produces real savings.
Avoid the most expensive weekend pattern
Friday-out, Sunday-back is the priciest way to fly almost any weekend route. Shifting to a Thursday or Monday, or flying out early and back late, often drops the fare noticeably for the same trip.
